You must have appropriate insurance cover during your studies at the International Study Centre.
We can add Uniplan Insurance to the cost of your tuition fees. Uniplan is designed for international students who are living and studying in the UK. Cover includes lost personal items, travel, health and medical claims. See your offer letter for more details.
If you’d prefer to arrange it yourself, you’ll need to provide proof of equivalent insurance. It must include:
cover for the full duration of your pathway or English language preparation programme
at least £2 million medical and repatriation cover
cancellation and curtailment cover for the cost of your travel and tuition fees.
You may need to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge as part of your visa application. This gives you access to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
You'll also need to pay an enrolment and textbook fee. Depending on your programme, a studio or lab fee may also apply.

Newcastle University offers a range of scholarships when you progress to your degree, which may include:
Successfully complete a pathway programme at Newcastle University International Study Centre and earn a progression scholarship worth £3,000 off your first year of degree study.
Am I eligible?
Students must have international fee status, be self-funded and normally domiciled in either China or the UK prior to joining their pathway programme to qualify.
Available to students progressing from an International Foundation, International Year One or a Pre-Master's programme in September 2027.
Students must achieve an overall grade of 75% or above in their pathway programme.

The value of the tuition fee award is £7,000 per academic year of your undergraduate degree programme at Newcastle University, progressing in September 2027.
