One simple study plan. Combine your preparation year with BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering in a single programme. You’ll continue directly to Year 2 of your degree at Newcastle University after successful completion of the first year.

If you do not meet the minimum entry requirements for this programme, you should apply for an International Year One in Engineering, which also offers progression to undergraduate degrees.

  • Develop specialist knowledge in civil engineering fields, including Environmental, Geology/Geotechnical, Structural, Transport and Water.
  • Study your pathway and degree with an iCAS (integrated Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)) and no need for visa renewal.
  • Complete Year 1 in a supportive environment for international students, then continue directly to Year 2 of your degree.

Age Requirement

All students commencing courses on a published September start date must be 17 years old by 31 December of that calendar year. For all other start dates, students must be 17 years old on the published start date of the course.


Academic Requirements
Minimum equivalent of Grade C in A level Maths or IB HL4 Maths.
English Language Requirements
IELTS 5.5 with 5.5 in all skills or equivalent
